Questions on deleting underhood items.

Trying to tidy up under the hood on the Cobra replica roadster. Engine is a 5.0 EFI from a 90 Mustang GT with Mass Air.

So far.. I have removed the EGR valve, and will be putting a block off plate on it. I have removed the EGR block water hoses, plugged the water spigot outlets on the heater pipe, and top back of head, I put rubber, vacumn line type block off boots on the water spigots on the throttle body. (are these ok for that use?) I have plugged the holes on the back of each head. I have the EGR delete resistors plugged in. Air pump bracket, etc. removed.

Now,

As I am not using the charcoal cannister vapor return system, (it is simply being used as a fuel odor filter at the rear) so I pulled off the vacumn lines, and switch, and plugged the appropriate spigots off the plenum. Can I simply cut off the harness electical connector that went to this vacumn switch, or do I need to splice the wires togeather, trick the computer, or anything else having to do with this? (The plug on the harness for it, is the one just off the EEC coolant temp sensor, at the front of the intake manifold. Currently it's just dangling there..)

I have the stock valve covers, with the spigot on the oil filler tube. Do I leave the tube in place that goes between the spigot and the throttle body, or do I require a breather type cap, and plug the spigot on the TB?

I still have the PCV valve, and tube in place, as stock. Do I leave it as is, or is there some mod required in this area? If so, what do I need to do?

The large black plastic vacumn junction, that usually sits on the Mustang firewall. Can I simply delete that and plug the line on the plenum? I am not using power brakes. Do I need a vacumn for something else, that I would need to keep it?

Anything else I need to delete, or mods required since deleting these items, that I should be concerned with??

P.S. In the future I will replace the large EGR block, with an aftermarket plate, so I do know that this can be deleted, in case you were going to mention it..

HHHmmmmmmmmm, didn't I just see this question posted on ffcobra ;)

PS: Pull the vacuum tree off the firewall intact, leave the EGR in place, everything else can be plugged off and since you will not be using the stock gauge cluster, no check engine light to annoy you.

Bill, I figured there were a few rodders on this forum that would be able to offer advice, that don't post on the ffcobra site. There are some very, very, talented people here, and figured it wouldn't hurt to get a wide variety of opinions, and ideas.:)

Sounds like a good reason to seek advice here, "very talented people and a variety of opinions", you've certainly got this group figured out.

Ok here's another question. Can exhaust gases still somehow enter my intake manifold, or TB, if I have deleted the EGR pipes off the back of the 5.0 heads? By plugging off the holes at the back of the head, is this gas now re-routed somehow?

I get a variety of opinions on this, never have gotten the definitive word. Still can't figure out what an engine designer would want exhaust gas in this area in the first place..heck it's an intake manifold..:confused:

No, the exhaust gases cannot get to the intake if you've removed those EGR tubes. The EGR, Exhaust Gars Recirculation, is there to send some of those gases back into the combustion chambers to be reburnt. It helps to cleanup the emissions from the tailpipe. Hope it helps.
