2004 Pontiac Grand Prix RPM limiter issue

Can any one help me out, I have this 2004 pontiac Gran Prix and if the RPM get over 4200 they stop the engine form going any faster and this is dangerous since I am out west and have to pass slower traffic as I have experienced a stall or two when passing in the oncoming lane. I went to a Chevy dealer whom told me that they could not do any thing and this is a law that a car can not go that fast (90-100 MPH), and that it is illegal to change this computer ship for more pawer and RPMs, I feel this is al BS!!!

Does any one know how to fix this or get a new speed chip and have it installed for me?
I hate the fact that the US government is taking controll all over and now in the cars we drive, I feel I should be able to pass or go any speed I like, this is BIG brother watching us, in a big way.
NEED help on this issue asap!!!

seriously??? you feel you should go any speed you want? above the law? speed limits have been around before you, you know. they are there for a reason and im damn glad i dont live around you if you feel its safe and normal to cruise the freeways at more than your limiter will allow. think that when you hit someone. ive lost friends to street racing and what you want to do is no different.
on the other side, any tune/dyno shop should be able to take care of your "concern". call local dyno shops and tell them what you have and what you want. they will tune your car to get the max safe hp your engine can handle and raise/get rid of governers if you wish. they are roughly 650 per tune at hutter performance near me.

i forgot to add that they can only do it if they have an availabilaty to your cars definition code. basically if they can tune the computer your car has.

I'm with you Chris. A person can get run over at 90. My 02 GrandPrix gives up at 115. My 35 doesn't give up, I do.
If you want to drive the speed limit, drive the speed limit but please move over, BOB.
