Compare the wrist pin placement to the oil ring in this 5.7 rod piston....

A spacer ring or other apparatus must be used to support the ends of the rails and expander as they rotate in the ring land. More stuff to go wrong in my opinion.
i use oil ring spacers all the time they never move. not a big deal but .i would say you will not see much if any with the longer rod i would not spend one dime more on longer rods .puting 600 hp thru a stock block i would worry more about that like a short fill and better main caps studs and a gridle.or a dart block
