some of the older 396 could be bored out to 4.250 .but not the 1970 396 block the 65/67 blocks some could .I would not worry much about the pistons i would worry more about boring a thin wall 396 block to 4.250 and then a 454 crank $$$$$$$$ i have bored some 396/402 past 68 they started getting thin on the bores. if you want a LS6 buy a 454 blockLast edited by pat mccarthy; 08-04-2009 at 03:03 PM.
