'51 235 no start
My '51 Chevy ran wedsday, and it was running pretty good.. I pulled it outside to work on it that day ( gets hot in the tent garage )... actully had been pulling it out every day and it was starting on the 2nd crank.. when I went to pull it back in, I got a few pops and then nothing.. checked plugs and they were gassed up, so I got new 1's.. still nothing... new condensor, and nothing.. checked points and there gapped correctly and, they produce a spark when turned over with ignition power, so there good.. checked voltage at the - side of the coil, and it's switching... brand new coil too ( I did change that too because of the no start )... I have an ignition tester, but it's not captive in the glass tube, and being my temp gas tank is a 2L soda bottle with a hole drilled in the cap and hose stuck thru it, under the hood.. I didn't want the spark to ignite the fumes so I have the bottle removed and fuel line connected to the main line, and I'm letting it air out b4 I use the tester... I did put new reproduction solid core plug wires on it, and used the Motorola radio supressor that was on the old coil wire.. but it has been working.. am I missing anything? if I find I have spark, then the engine must be just flooded bad, but how do I clear that out?You don't know what you've got til it's gone

well I'v determined it to be some form of intermittent spark problem... it'll fire a few times once in a while, other than that. still nothing...
attempting to push the car into the garage, I broke the left side windshield, so theres $300 down the drain for a replacement.. I guess the only good thing to that, is, the original did have visible rub marks from someone running them with no wiper blades.. so I'll have 1 BN shiney windshieldLast edited by Matt167; 05-22-2009 at 01:30 PM.
