I have a '91 Chevy 1500 pu, 4wd LT w/5.7 that has been dependable as all get out. I've owned it since new and done all required maintence. Recently I went looking for new PU's...even with the "deals" a comparable equipped truck is way more than I want to spend. So I'm going to hang to my ol' PU...I don't use it for work anymore mostly here and there, to the dump, and general running around town.

The truck just hit 105K on the odo and it is now time for an oil change, I've religiously changed oil/filters about every 3k miles, plugs and wiring about every 10K. It still looks good, inside and out, and it has been paid for since '91

I've heard pro/con on using a synthetic oil some say yeas to extend the life of the engine others say no on hi-milage engines.

I've used Castrol oil since new... ? Would I be better off using a synthetic like Mobil 1 or similar or go with Castrols "hi-milage oil"????

I'm planning to keep this truck for awhile now
