I am wanting to have a shop, build me a blown (6-71 polished blower) 350 engine for my 32. I simply want it set up to cruise around town, car shows and cruise nights. Maybe drive 100 miles out from home and run cool between 180-200. Look mean but set up for FUN!

If I had a shop build the engine from scratch. ABOUT what cost would I be looking at with parts and labor? You think $9,000 would do it? block, machine work, parts and labor?

$13,895 for this one It's a 383 so I'm sure you could do a 350 for less....

Actually, quality parts for a 350 are about the same cost as quality parts for a 383. Do it once, do it right, Spend a little extra anmd enjoy peace of mind.

Depending on parts chosen, you may need more work in the block for clearance. Labor = $$$ That's about the only place you'd save with the 350.

well all i can say is WoW i need to raise my rates Big Alls is in the big bucks the 350 is low dollar build ? i am going to start building 392 not beating up big al to bad? God s been good to Al good for him i would have a had time getting that coin around here even if i had a gun in my hand

So Pat, what kind of $$$ would you charge for a similar motor?
I've been thinking about doing one myself, but space and $$$ are a bit short right now.....but things could change by years end.......

well i am doing a 383 rigth now all scat crank 4340 H beam rods JE dish pistons and the brodix -11x heads ? erson custom soild roller cam and pbm roller rockers and i would have to look in to the paper work but i think i can may be over the base sbc by 1500.or close his base engine and for sure i can if you read his add stock rods with arp bolts and iron stock crank ?iron heads? but i do not know what he selling with that kit 3000. for a new blower kit or re built stuff? thats 3500 for the bottom end ? and very mild bottom end????

His ad really doesn't say what's in it, so who knows what you're getting. I know you build quality, and that isn't cheap. I'm hoping by the end of the year things will turn around and I can get serious about a new motor. Until then I'll have to be happy with what I have.....

well i look at his base build and i know why i do not make much money i would have a hard time putting stock gm rods stock turned cast crank and re work gm iron heads when i can buy new iron stuff that has not seen 100.000 miles and get stuff in a blower engine and a flat lifter cam? i would have a hard time backing up any thing with out a roller cam in it with the way oil is now

i would use oliver rods and a cola or callies crank. you wanna talk about bulletproof.

well yes callies racemaster or howards pro plus and not there import compstar if so then use a scat and go up to the bbc snout so thats $1240 for the crank and oliver rods $1270. and a stock block will not do world block 4 splayed all 5 positions block with pre 2500. now you got bulletproof and $5010 with out shipping and NO blower

What?????? you don't want stock cast crank and rods ( but with new bolts) also not encluded ---carbs, distributor, water pump, etc, etc, etc!!!!

WELL????? NO i do not think so

i would rather buy american and hey why not make it bullet proof then you dont have tob uy parts as near in the future. my stock car buddy runs 6 inch oliver rods and a callies billet lightend crank. bulletproof bottomend.
