They both are better!
SBC is smaller, lighter, more parts available, fit into smaller places, generally cheaper. Generally will turn more rpm
BBC can provide huge cubic inches, more total power, can provide lotsa power without being as radical, generally will make more torque. Has more visual impact.
Not sure I agree with drg84 about Big Blocks being just for racin'. You can run a fairly mild big inch big block on the street and be really quick with not too tall a gear. To keep up running a small block you will have to either build it more, or run steeper gears.
Either way it's nice to have the choice

True on the BB, but the Problem is they tend to suck down gas like a 747. If youve got the cash, then there is no problem with a BB.
Nah, small blocks are the way to go, cheaper, great reving, and i can make the same torque with a smallblock, (400). Big block can be in the truck to haul my car to the track i guess , small block goes in my car so i can spank some mopars.:D :LOL: ;)
You won't be spanking any bb mopars, there is no substitute for cubic inches.

Ive had both & like em both, just like Stu said earlier:
Small blocks are smaller & lighter, parts are cheaper, but on the other hand,a 454 can make an easy 500+ reliable streetable horsepower, with the stock cast crank& rods& headsbecause itll never have to be reved past 6grand.
Asmall block however to make those kind of streetable numbers will need to be reved, gotta buy a good crank, rods & some heads thatll flow. John
