I have the edelbrock 650cfm. Have had it over 8 months now with no problems. Even when I had to adjust it due to spacer removal it was very easy to do. Edelbrock has a excellent web site with alot of support for any questions that you might have.
Holley. They look cooler to me .............
They are both good products with pretty equal pros and cons overall from what all I have seen.
Check your fuel routing and linkage requirements etc (hood clearance?) before you make up your mind.

Yep, If you don't already have a preference, I agree check to see which of them will be a closer match to what you already have for linkage, fuel line routing and hood clearance. If you haven't tuned both of them before do a little research and see which one you think would be easier to tune and go from there.Quote:

I used to be 100% Holley but after running a couple Edelbrocks on the street, I really am beginning to like them. They seem to hold their tune a lot better for some reason.... I put on of the AVS carbs on a customer's car, been on there since last spring and he love's it, sez his Holley will just stay on the shelf!!!!
tell him to sell it to me! :LOL:
edelbrock has worked well for me,use to run holley,but had to keep tuning it in.
i am using edelbrock heads and intake so if the post comes up with no problems with the edelbrock i will go with it. thanks for the input:)
i've run both, and i prefered the tuneability of the holley when running on the track, but the reliability of the eddy was definately nice on the street
I got sick and tired of taking my various Holleys apart for some reason or another over many years and decided to try Edelbrocks - and have never looked back. All were taken out of the box, installed, the key turned, the idle speed set and the car was driven. The supplied Owner's Manual shows you how to optimize the tune, but only if you want to.
The only problems that I've EVER had with the Edelbrocks is dirt - and that isn't the carbs fault. They do need a good gas filter
Negatives(my history):
1. Holleys leak somewhere - always. There are too many below the fuel line gaskets not to dribble somewhere
2. Holleys dump fuel on your intake every time you want to do some tuning - regardless of tin cups, rags or whatever you have to catch the fuel.
3. Holleys (4160's) are the only carbs that have tried to burn my vehicles to the ground when an O ring has split on the fuel cross tube (3 times). I ended up using only 4150's (or modifying 4160s with dual feed float bowls) for this reason.
4. Can be a bit** to tune correctly - but a $20 book will tell you how.
Positives(again, my history):
1. Parts from many sources are readily available for tuning.
2. Easily tuned, but see #2 above
3. Lots of them at swap meets for 'spare parts' (Hmmmm, is there a reason - maybe the just wear out)
Is a Holley a good carb? It sure is - and it will be every bit as good as an E-brock, but IMO, will need more maintenance for daily drivers
the pole seems to be in favor of the holley but the posts favor the edelbrock im leanig toward the edelbrock
my holley nhas never leaked, and if it did it was something that was my fault not the carb's :LOL: yes depending ont he intake u will spill a little fuel no big deal just dont like a match like my friend did :LOL: other than that a holley will damn near out perform any carb out there if you dig into them and take a chance to learn once you understand them, you can make them do anything within reason :D of you could buy a demon and never have to touch it ! :LOL:
