Falcon gets Intercooler

Well guys. I put this in when I was trying to figure out what retainers to use with the 302 intake valves, for the 200 I6 heads ( which I did figure out, factory 302 2 peice intake retainers, but use the 200 I6 center section, they fit perfect in the 302 retainers, and allow the use of the 5/16" valve stem. ) anyway, this is 1 of the $50 Ebay specials, but it's supprisingly, good construction. the welds aren't a row of quarters, but there not sloppy ither. mine came scratched on the end tanks a bit and had a "JDM Sport" tag on the top, but there was an easy fix to that, flip it upside down and backwards, tanks were less scratched on that side, and the tag is not visible. also the pipe outlets work better in that position. mounted with angle iron, 3/8" bolts with nylocks, and it's spaced from the "wall" about 1" on top and 1/2" on the bottom ( to clear valance ) with some spacers I cut out of some aluminum tubing. The hood latch and hood latch support, will not fit in, so the hood will be closed with factory correct hood pins that were used on Mustangs and Fairlaines. Ford Racing markets them as reproductions and summit has them for $22 somthing.

My Napa guy gave me ( that's right, Free ) 8 used 302 intake retainers ( all he had to give ). I went out to the '88 Crown Vic that we have as a parts car, and retrived the last 4 I needed off of the 5.0 in it. socket trick really works good. next week, the head should be bolted down, tomorrow it's getting finished assembled ( still got 4 to go.

lookin good matt.... be careful when you install those hood pins, its really a bummer if you drill a hole in your hood and miss your mark

yeah I know. gotta order them tonight, so I'll have them b4 the end of school. my teacher's installed hood pins b4, we quick measured to make shure they would work, and they will. I think the measurement was 37 1/2" from the rear of the hood to the front of the hood, then there would only be a need to space them the same distance from the edge on the sides

Install the hood pins to the car first. Put a piece of tape and a dab of paint on top of the pins, then slowly set the hood down on the pins to mark the spot for the holes....

yup, some cars like my mustang already have stock holes in the upper radiator support that are evenly spaced and happened to be the same spot used for shelby pins..... but i'm not putting mine in until i have which is when my carbon fiber hood gets here

so are you using a turbo or supercharger ? if not ,why the intercooler ?

I'm using a turbocharger. for now, I'm just using a Factory 3.8 Buick Turbo, when I go to collage, I'll probably make a turbo headder, and run a T04 S3 trim. the Hp should be 250-300 at the wheels with the Buick turbo. Still a 200 I6, just it's been highly modefied:D

i cant wait til you get that baby all the way finished.... shes gonna be one wicked 200..... it makes me wish sometimes i had left my 200 in my mustang, and then i come back to reality and remember my 289 puts out even more power and i haven't even supercharged it yet.... thats on my list though :LOL:

yeah. I'm going to have to tow it home to finish, but it should only take a week or 2, to get it running. the cylinder head goes on the car tomorrow, then the roller rockers. hopefully I can get my " Power By Ford " valve cover painted up. it will be black with red metallic letters where the " Power By Ford " is raised up.
