pulled the heads off and ........................

pulled the heads off the nova and noticed a lot of metal chips in the oil return holes in the heads heads are very clean otherwise no cylinder wall ridge nice big domes pokin out. a hot tanking re-ring and bearing are in order as of this moment gonna do some motor compartment cleanup. and now im looking at a solid roller cam. them cylinder walls aint thin you should see this one dude who is having his motor built at one the local shops a .100 over 350 sounds a tad large but hey what do i knopw i still build 283s**) :LOL:

huh? well i found a little out for you as if you'd belive it anyway 262 with callies stroker crank, carillo rods dont remember the pistons, has the "turbo heads" with big block valve springs a custom grind cam with .557 lift 300ish duration on a 99* lobe center with ferrara ferra? however you spell it, valves. thats what i know about it. but back to my POS haha i have the 327 SMJ sitting there and pondering. i am just going to re-hone mine rings bearings have the heads enlarged to 2.02's and still deciding whether or not to go to a solid roller or just a bigger solid probably .575 or larger and a nice big tall single plane intake. i am still wondering though. am i going to have to fly cut the pistons 0 deck with shaved heads i am not quite sure i have heard mixed answers. my dad's mad im tearing it apart why? i dont know! how am i ever gonna learn just driving it!

A 262? Cubic inches? Man if that's the case, Put the 327 in it and some fun.

I have never heard of a cam that has only .557 lift but has 300 ish duration.
Would that be at .050 or advertised???
99 degree L/S ??
Most of the very large cams that let an engine turn at 9,000 rpm's or more go the other way and run 112-114 L/S for a "drag engine"

hey thats what i was told :LOL: yes at .050 now back to me. erick your a very dirty dog you actually have me looking at aftermarket heads! :LOL: RHS has a full assmbled. set of 2.02 1.6's for 626 bucks!

Well good.
I would look at the ProTorker RHS head.
This head will let you run either the new style Vortec intake or the old style intake.
With the bronze guides and screw in studs it is hard to beat.
With a 170 cc port volume it should be enough to support 400 to 425 hp with no problem.

i am going for mid 11's this year im leaning towards 180-190 cc runners

The 190 cc's will let that 327 go to 8,000 rpm's with a little port work.

what about the 301 :D the 327 needs a full machine work treatment as of right now

On the 301 I would use the 180's with some port work done.
If it is only a drag car I would run the comp. ratio to 13 to 1,have a good intake ,flowed carb, mech. roller cam,run a 5,500 stall,gear the $hit out of the car and hold on.:3dSMILE:

i was looking at some 5:13's or 5:38's i have a 4,500 stall just needs to be flushed, i am looking back at the 4 speeds <yea yea> i think ive figured out a way to make it work DAVE: any leads on good trannies. the guys out here just use t-10's with liberty gears

Stack about 5 Lencos on this thing....seriously, what are you moving toward or how are you going to drive it?

i want to 4 speed it but i just cant do it right now <so wish i could though> just gonna keep it an auto and footbrake it lol. got the heads squared away as far as whats going to be done to them. not to bad on the price. also going to start looking into some tru-seal rings. need new bearings of course probably clevite 77's.

Might be willing to part with one of my T-10's, but you'd like a 5 speed a whole lot better..... I've seen a couple of the old Doug Nash comp 5 speeds (no, mine are not for sale) go fairly reasonable on eBay from time to time, got a good case and some Liberty gears for $350 a month or so ago.... Just keep saving your money and get a good one!!!! Then save up some more money and get the Long (brand name) Vertical Gate shifter with the moly rods and moly heims......

PS---Been considering making 4th 1 to 1, spreading out 2nd and 3rd, then an OD gear for fifth and a putting my 6.00 rear gears in for some Saturday night action......

PSS---What do you have the car weight down to now???? (Do we need to talk about driver weight?????:LOL: :LOL:)
