As I recall - the last time this subject came up - it was a stuck carb float that was overflowing into the crankcase.

Not sure about the tailpipe drip?

A ruptured fuel pump diaphram can also put gas in the oil.

generally its low to no compression on a cylinder, bad pump diaphragm or a way overly rich condition

We haven't heard which carb it is....Holley? if so, check power valve and gasket that seats the power valve. Denny said change the oil...definitely! runa good trustworthy grade and weight. All these previous posts will head you in the right direction.

yup.... oil will break down super fast with gas in it and your friends bearings will get chewed up fast.....

why? a 40 just means its thicker at cold temps.... meaning when the engine is cold its gonna be harder to get that oil flowing to the bearings.... leave it at a 10-30.... check the power valve on the carb also the float, make sure theres jets in there...... check your fuel pump as well make sure theres no tearing in the diaphram
