ok, I'm going to be needing a set of valve springs, and some high strength retainers. I know the stock spring diamater is 1.335 for a 200 and 1.585 closed height. I know I want to maintain the same closed height, but how do I determine what that will be? I know I want a spring with 100 # closed preassure, stock is 52 #, but under boost, I don't want any valves floating. what should I get for valve springs? cam will have .495 lift, so stock valves are useless anyway, they coil bind at .450.
call any cam company they use many types of springs or look the spring up in a cam book 1.585 is your set up height some time i will use a longer stem valve to get a taller set up or vlave locks and retainers all can be used to get higher setup and keep from coil bind a howard spring 98341 is od 1.385 id .800 dual 105@1.625 and coil bind .910 pontiac/olds v8 spring or cut the spring pocket for a 1.430 O.D@1.680coil bind 1.100 small block ford the first one s are the ones i would use and steel retainers i will add you can cut thru the head with the spring cutter so watch what you are doing and hit the books and do your home work you will find some thing that will work i do this stuff all the time
Matt, I would caution you against mixing and matching cam and springs. Call the guys who ground the cam and get their springs.

Don't get your nose out of joint Pat. I was just saying that if he gets the springs from the cam grinder, they'll be closer to right than him jimmy-jackin' around with it. And the grinder will be more likely to warranty the whole mess if they sold the whole mess, that's all.
I was going to order the springs and locks from Clay smith anyway, I just didn't know what to do about the specs. the cam is a Clay smith cam.
