Find a reputable machine shop, preferably one that does a lot of race engines. They will effectively inform you about building a 383. Normally, you would bore a 350 block .030 over, and yes, that would necessitate ordering .030 over pistons. Both SCAT and Eagle are good rotating assemblies, and you normally have a choice of forged or hypereutetic pistons, 5.7 or 6.0 inch rods, cast steel or forged crankshafts. It all depends on what you want to do with this car and how much money you have to spend.
