If you are going to port it out for racing then take it to a pro.If you are just looking at getting some basic experience then go for it.You can clean up sharp edges in the cumbustion areas that might cause detonation, and port match you intake to the heads.Even light cleaning up of the intake and exhuast ports .Leave as much of the stock rough finish on the intakes this helps mix fuel. There is alot of material(chevy heads ,stock)that can be taken out around the valves, also.Big increases from porting are going to be done on a flow bench though.I have a chevy book that is very detail on areas to hit ,but this does you no good, unless you just need a idea.
