63 Belair intake
I'm working on a friend's stock 63 Belair SS with a 327/powerglide. He wants to put an aftermarket intake and carb on it. I'm having trouble finding an intake with provisions for the oil filler tube and breather. He would like to go with the Edelbrock 600 carb. I know Edelbrock offers manifolds that can be machined for the oil filler tube, but would like to find one with the filler tube hole already there. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave

If your changing the intake go one step farther and change the valve covers too. Then the oil filler will be in them.

i would take the road tube off to.take the can out of the lifter valley and get a soft plug to plug the road tube and a new set of valve covers

Why not set him up with a PCV system and get rid of the road draft tube. The car will run cleaner and will be better for the environment. Get new valve covers with a breather on one side and a PCV grommet on the other. You will be able to add oil through the breather hole. Will be easy to do and will clean up the front of the motor.

I suggested changing the valve covers and showed him how I had done just that to the 327 in my 33, but he wants the look of the originals. I than suggested stocker v/c s off of a later model but this guy has it in his mind he wants to keep the filler tube type manifold.

I like the filler in the front and a pcv in the valve cover. You will never spill oil on the exaust manifolds or headers .Also u never need a funnel.I have caught 1 truck on fire from spilling oil on hot exaust manifolds!!:whacked:
