    ID Car Motor

     



    Picked up a canabalized 1985 camaro with engine swap,i dont even if it is a 350 i was told it was a 69 corvette motor but i dont beleive it. block number #3970010 with a mechanical fuel pump cant see the head but the feel like camel back castings anything i can use to narrow down year does anyone know a more specific year then what i got 1967-1979? if so please post back.

    The 3970010 block was used as the foundation for everything from a large journal 327, the high performance 350's of the late 60's, to 145 hp smog choked 350 inch truck motors. They came as either 2 or 4 bolt main blocks. If you could read the stamped numbers on the front of the block just under the passenger side cylinder head, it will give you a little more information. It's the best production block GM cast. The heads, cam, and intake are what made it a performer.

    There is no way to tell if is a 4 bolt block form the outside.

    no im going to look at the stamped numbers on the front of the block just under the passenger side cylinder head like you said
