F.I. or a one barrel with a governor locked in at 40 mph.
I would imagine this is a 400M Ford engine??? They make good power, but fuel mileage is not one of their better attributes. What is the engine in????
hmmm id say go with a 4 banger if you want mileage lol....but on your motor id go with low compression a small cam,a small carb in the 300 to 500 cfm range and either Denso or NGK iridium spark plugs...mileage also depends on what type of gearing your vehicle has too,,,low geared is good in town and for pulling and high geared is good on the highway so id pick something in between 355 is a good all around gear or 373 is too
for fuel economy you can't beat a vacuum gauge mounted where you can see it while driving
keep the needle above 10 inches of mercury for cruising
you will not win the stop light Grand Prix but you will get the best mileage you can get
If you need more power(don't we all) run it a between 2 and 6 inches of mercury(Hg)= Power comes up and economy goes down
just keep out of the no vacuum zone<2"Hg or wide open throttle
hank
If I can't fix it I'll F*ck it up so badly nobody else will be able to fix it either
