With the taller deck, I'd make sure you could close the hood with that engine (292) in there before buying. A 250 might be a better bet.
A coupe other options you may not have thought about;
* 4.3L V-6 - Uses the same mounts as a small block V-8. Can be run carburated or injected. There is some minor aftermarket support for this engine.
* 4.2L I-6 from the new Trailblazer - Yes, you'd have to fabricate mounts. You'd have to wire for the computer (not that hard). And you'd have 275 HP and an overdrive transmission (and probably great mileage).---Tom
