Kind of dissapointed with new motor

I got it running today, and... it sounds BAD ASS!!! I have no idea how it's going to pass smog now. I guess the cam I picked was a little too much. Oh, and the exhaust smells so much better now. MMM efficient combustion

So why are you dissapointed? It sounds like it should be pretty decent. And as for passing emissions, why should you have a problem? is this for the 76?

Last year for rolling expemption in California was '75 so I do have to smog and that is why I was dissapointed. Actually, some good news is that I had to lean it out to get it to idle which means less CO emissions which are the only ones I am worried about. Soon as I hook up the brake pedal tommorow I'm going for a test drive... to the radiator shop because my current radiator can't even begin to keep up with the motor.

75? Wow, california sux. Seriously though, ,as long as you have a cat convertor and it is within %5 of optimal burn, it should pass. Remember, 76 truck emission were like 71 car emissions. And remember, triple core radiators work

Is the smog year still rolling? I thought 73 was the last year that didn't have to smog anymore...?

Smog stopped rolling at 75 in California. I have no catalytic converters and according to California smog law, it would be illegal for me to install them as it would be a modification of the original smog system. Also, my current radiator is a 2 row that has a large section of the core rotted out and has a few holes in one of the tanks that I have been trying to solder up. But, my local radiator shop should have a brand new 3 row waiting for me to pick it up tommorow, if I can get my current radiator to hold water long enough to drive down there.
