I wasnt asking for an opinion. i was asking for info.
yep Bucko....lol...that cute bucko....perhaps you're correct...maybe you should go back to shcool. Learnt the difference between somone asking for help and someone asking for an opinion
Now Streets OL' buddie............................................you're not following a bad example here are you?
Let's take a moment................take a deep breath...................out with the bad air, in with the good. Again................out with the bad air, in with the good. Now. Isn't that better??
well it shouldn't be that hard doing that engine swap :) by the way you're making a good choice... crossfire does stink. anyway... are you planning on doing any performance mods to the LT1? if so your best bet for parts is summit, Jegs, or Edlebrock. and if you don't have the engine yet... try Jasper Engines they're good! now as for puttin' it in. i'm pretty sure you can use the same mounts. now for the transmission, i don't think (now i could be wrong) you can use the same trans you got. unless you're going for high horsepower a 4L60E trans is good for cruisin' if you are going for performance you can try a 700-R4 or a 200-4R those all have Over drive which means you can put a tall gear in like a 4:11 and still drive it on the freeway and keep decent gas milage. You can check Jasper they'll answer any questions you got http://www.jasperengines.com or Jegs www.jegs.com if you have any questions for me let me know i'm always here to help!
Thanks Trucks,
Im not looking for high horsepower, only something with a bit more than the crossfire and something a bit more dependable.
Im currenlty using a 700R4 and hoping it will work with this setup.
Issues I have are with the ECM. I know the LY will require a different unit my conern is that all my gauges will still operate correctly. I'm waaaaaay behind when in comes to the new digital stuff.
yeah, tell me about it... there's a place i know of called Street & Performance that deals with this kind of stuff. i don't know their website or their phone# but they sell wireing harnesses and such and could probally answer your question, i'll get theie info from my friend who has delt with them before i'll have it by the end of the week
Thanks Trucks
if it were any other car, i'd say it should be a straight swap, but i own a 75 and i know diffrent.
I pulled out the tired old 400 turbo and swapped in a fresh 350 turbo c/w shift kit.
the transmission mount had to be changed, also the linkage, the kickdown went from electric to cable drive, the lines didnt fit, the yoke didnt line up , and when i found one to fit, it didnt fit the drive shaft.
the only thing that lined up was the bolt holes in the motor, and me at the parts counter. lol. mike.
Does an LT1 use different motor mounts than the old 350? If so, the easiest thing to do would be to get some heads to raise the compression, then throw on a good aftermarket EFI like the one from Accel. You should have no problem getting over 350 hp on a reliable street motor.
