DeSoto 291 Hemi Info
I'm looking for any and all info on these motors. 1955 DeSoto 291 CI
I've already figured out it's an orphan.
Would be interested in knowing what other parts may interchange with the old beauty. What may interchange.
I picked up a 55 Firedome 2 dr hardtop with a decent body and running motor. Figured I make a mild custom out of it. (Mechanicville Flat Black, of course.)
Are these a decent engine to begin with? Any hop up suggestions? Looking for a 4 barrel manifold as I write this.
I just want to run her around this year and freshen her up this winter. I can't believe the prices or rebuild parts. I'm hoping the inners are okay when I pull it apart.
I saw an older Hemi with a Caddy EFI setup on another site. Loved it!!

There heavier than a 350 but there good engines to use if you want diffrent, they will draw attention and if you decide to sell the car down the road, it will go up in value each year because it's a HEMI, with the new so called HEMI Dodge trucks and cars, the popularity of anything HEMI will increse as will the price because of that. Go to www.speedwaymotors.com and look at there HEMI section, lots of hop up parts for them. If I had 1 I'd be building it up.
