1966 Chevy II 194 Inline Six

I recently purchased a Clifford #4501 Intake for this engine but have not installed it yet. I'm not sure if the stock exhaust maniford will bolt to it, or if I have to use the Clifford headers as well? also I'm not sure what carburator to use with this intake.
The current carb is a rochester BV 1 bbl, but I would like to install a 2 bbl. Most of the ones I've seen are manual choke, but the orginal has a remote choke, I don't know what would be the easiest swap? Any help is appreciated.

you gonna need the clifford headers. not sure how much more carb. you can bolt on there without doing something to your head and cam.:cool:

cool :toocool:. i've always thought about hopping up an inline 6. sounds like alot of fun and it different, thats what i really like.

my 1st car was a 74 nova with a 250 6 3 spd manual tranny and 3.50 rear gears.
i had gotten a manifold and headers back in the early 80s for this and put a holley 2 bbl carb on it ,plus a dist advance kit in it. took a little fiddling but this sucker would give some of the other kids cars a run for their money and performed like a small v8 .the standard really helped .
i always thought a well built 292-6 would be good motor too for a light car or a t bucket.

As a man with a "hopped" inline 6, Welcome to the family! Anyway, to buisness. With a 194 you have a small six there. Dont over-carb the poor thing, or it will dog. I would reccomend about a 3-400 Edelbrock 2 barrel if you can bolt it to the clifford manifold. As for the exhaust manifold question, it may fit with the new intake. May advice would be to simply hold it parallel to your current intake. If you have overhang on the mounts, it wont fit. If not, chances are it will. However, if your trying to get any real power from the motor, headers arent a bad idea anyway. Remember, you have something different. Treat it as such;)

Inline 6's are always good, I'm putting Fenton headders and an offenhauser intake on my 235 Chevy.

When I was a kid 45 years ago , there was a guy here that had a 39 chey coupe with a 301 ci/ 292 six cylinder running right at 100MPH in the quarter mile. Back then , that was F A S T.

I don't plan on racing, I would just like to get the HP up to or around a stock 250 six. The 250 wasn't available until 67 and is rated at 155 HP vs. the 194 which is 120 HP. This as far as I know is the original engine in the car, except for the head.
I don't know when it was rebuilt and the guy I bought it from couldn't tell me either. I think he bought it from someone else and just didn't have time or money to fix it up.
I did buy an HEI distributor from a 74 Nova with a 250-six and installed it on my 194. That did make a little difference, and the engine runs solid with no smoke, or misses.
There are places that sell a Offenhauser intake for these sixes that will accept a 4 bbl carb, that seems like too much for an engine of this size. Also if I don't get headers, I was thinking of doing a split exhaust with dual pipes.

Oh, Holley has that nice little 4 barrel 390 cfm carb. I run one on my 2.8 v6 Bronco II. Just right.

i ran a 240- 6 that put out right at 315 hp. just never like the sound.:p
