I'm working on a sbc 283 engine that I have the pistons out and some are pitted and some have eyebrows. Are the pitted ones caused by detonation and the eyebrow by Valve Float?

The motor in question was running but not very good. Your right about the bent valves so I'm going to do a complete build up with a buddy who will be my right hand. Thanks Bob for the info.:D
