whats a good intake manifold for the 383?im thinkin an edelbrock performer
Performer is good if you have a near stock or RV cam. If you have more cam the Performer RPM intake is a better choice. The air gap versions are good for a couple of horse power but the originals (non-air gap Performer RPM) are a better choice if you will be doing much cold climate winter driving.
Depends on several things, cam, heads, carb, gear and just what do you want to do with it. Just guessing,I would think if you've built a 383 you would want a little more than a performer. A performer RPM or a RPM air gap would seem more in line for a 383. the performer is good from idle to 5500 . the other two from 1500 to 6500.
thanx riverhorse.im planning on around 425 hp,i went with a comp cam and a pair of 194 heads.im thinkin along the line of a 750cfm.man its been along time since i done this
Which comp cam? How about headers and exhaust?Do you know what gear you're going to use? Is it automatic? I am in the process of a frame off on my 64 right now.
if i remember its the 262.and i gotta pair of hooker headers, the rearend has 373 gears.just talked to my brotherinlaw, boy does he hate 383 strokers.he thinks i ought to just build it as a 355.im waiting for the body parts as im doing a frame too.
