water pass. on heads, not on man.
I took off my manifold on my bb chevy so that I can change out the cam. I just noticed that there are 2 water passages on each head, one at front and one at the rear of them. My intake manifold however, only has a water passage in the front.
Is this ok to run or will something overheat (I don't know the actual flow path of coolant)??
Also, I was inspecting the cam bearings and noticed that all have the oil hole at the very bottom, EXCEPT for the rear bearing, I can't see any hole at all (I can only see the bottom half of the bearing).
I have a book that says to make sure all oil holes are lined up, but it doesn't get specific about individual ones.
Should this one have a hole at the bottom too??

This is odd to say the least. I know on oldsmobiles at least there are water passages on both sides of the intake. It flows through the block, up into the heads, through the intake and out. I think. Its possible that your head cooling ports are where the water flows out and through the thermostat. that would explain the front-only flow. As for your bearing problem, if you already have the cam out, i would check your book for any pictures, then check for a hole on the top of the bearing. Its possible it was put in upside down.Right engine, Wrong Wheels
