i dont know what a loaded up 70 chevelle, full roll cage, 9" ford rear, 502 with a 250 lb driver , and tool box in the trunk weights and i doubt that you do either, but i bet its closer to 4000 than 3300.

My 68 GTO with a 200lb driver, no cage and no toolbox weighed 3706. Dunno about Chevelles, though. They looked heavier in my rear-view mirror.

Funny you should mention that...
a GS weighing nearly 4,000 lbs just turned a 11.08@127 in the factory appearing Stock Tires class at Englishtown
That's with Polglas GT tires!
And I'm sure that the '69 Lt-1 Corvettes could turn a low 11 from the factory with the right tires. They are not light cars
I won't dispute you on the big Buick, some of those are awesome. But concerning the LT1 'vette, I don't think they arrived until 1970. And while they were pretty quick, high 12's would be a strong runner in factory trim, even with slicks.Quote:

Well, not really a big Buick, it's an A body, same as the '70 Chevelle, same frame and suspension
Remember the '69 COPO Camaros? The same production order put the aluminum 427 into two Corvettes that year, for a total of 71 of the engines installed by the factory. I could be mistaken, but if I recall correctly, those two Corvettes carried no badges except two small "Lt-1" emblems in the interior

Great to here some people besides me are building up this giants. I'm currently building up a 72 Caprice two door, with a factry 454c.i.d. I've most recently modified the factory exaust to a more staight and open design, to decrease back pressure.Most of my other mods are minor.Going to next add a nitrous plate with a 50-150hp boost.Trying to reach a eleven second run or better.
its totally possible. Ive seen diesel trucks pulling those times and i believe they weigh around 6000 pounds not to mention the aerodynamics are that of a brick.
