From what I have heard all the wild soundin and lookin things like that from the 60 s was all in the search of traction.I guess the tires were a little slippery as bias ply tires would smoke the entire 1/4 mile and some of the 60 ft times from those days reflect that.Bleach ,low tire pressure and straight axle fronts were all in seach traction same as tubbin the rear .Almost none of these mods were ever done for looks.Alot of the 60s rides could have droped 1-2 secs on the 1/4 mile with todays tire technology.Thats why sub frame connectors and shock tower braces are so important today.Frame twist was only on the high horepower rides at the track most street rides could not generate the traction needed to twist the frame or body as bad as what u see with todays tires. As with most things about rods it was all about going faster and if it turned out cool lookin all the better:) !!!
I was gonna start a new thread for this, but somehow I think it's related to the Friday night pass.
I went up to the track today (Saturday) for some test and tune runs. I got as far as the staging lanes when someone 4 lanes away from me noticed I had a tranny leak. I went back to the pits to check it out, and hopefully tighten what I thought was a loose line. The cooling lines were tightened, and just before my son was done checking, he noticed something not good. It seems the transmission case in the bellhousing area is in about 3 or 4 pieces. It is cracked completely around from one side to the other. I have no idea what is keeping it from falling out on it's own. This is another one of those "someone is watching over me" times. If I had made it down the track, it surely would have exploded, and we all know where all that ATF would have ended up......... right under my tires!
We are removing it tomorrow, so I should have some pics to post. Oh well, there is just enough time left in the season to get a new transmission shipped to me and installed.
How about VHT Trackbite ?
Funny thing is I didn't hear any noise. What?
Looks like time for an ultra glide case. He He He:CRY: :CRY:Quote:

I like your attiude pro...i get mad whenever somethin goes wrong with my car...but I can see your point...what's an intact bellhousing supposed to look like? I'm glad "some guy 4 lanes over" noticed somethin and you guys had the good sense to check it out... **) :)
Well, I kinda like having three gears. I'm calling TCI tomorrow to get a new Competition TH350. It's too bad cause this one was just freshened up at the beginning of the season.Quote:

I don't use a blanket, just a shield, and it didn't even touch it. There was one 3/8" bolt left holding it onto the motor.Quote:
