Chassis Certified!
Even though this car ran 1/8th mile before I got it, the chassis was never certified. I had it done Saturday, and with the addition of a dash bar it is now certified for 7.50 and 180mph. The rules change for next year. If I want to get a cert for those numbers, I'll have to have a funny car type cage installed. There are still a few more little odds and ends to take care of before it's maiden voyage, but nothing too hard. I should be ready to rip up some concrete in a couple of weeks.Last edited by pro60chevy; 04-18-2004 at 04:05 AM.

Re: Chassis Certified!
From what I understand 7.50 will also require an "X" brace between the rails under driver compartment. "X" has to be at least as long as it is wide. Diagonal brace under drivers seat from from rail behind driver to the front outer corner of the body/cage behind front wheel. That's what they were tellin' the guys bringin' new chassis through the inspection lanes. They said might as well do it now while it's still easy to get at. I'm still figurin' this roll cage stuff out. I have all the parts so I spoz' I better get it figured out before I start tackin stuff in place.Originally posted by pro60chevy

One of the track officials is a friend of mine and said he and a chassis guy would come down and look at it when I get it together. Always nice to get input from the guy who will be putting the sticker on it.
Hope to see some low times in a couple weeks!!!!!!! Maybe pics. from the track????Last edited by pro70z28; 04-18-2004 at 01:52 PM.

I'll be picking up the car Monday, so I'll check on exactly what I may not be doing for next year. My other choice is to not go quicker than 8.20. The 7.50 moves to 8.20 next year, but the mph will stay the same. Does that make any sense?Mike Casella
