NHRA announced Pro Stock rule changes during qualifying at the Mile High Nationals. I think it is about time for them to go to fuel injection. Warren Johnson said quite a while ago: "you can't even buy a weed eater with a carburetor any more." Here they are, what do you think?

Wow, prepare to watch the field slow down until the learning curve catches up. There should be lots of high-buck carburetors available soon on Racing Junk.

I am curious about the "complete spec fuel injection system that all competitors must use" and the NHRA controlled 10,500 RPM rev limiter as a component. Restrictor plate racing? Can an engine spec be far behind ala NASCAR? Seems like this will limit the innovators and creative engineers.

Maybe we can go back to a vehicle that actually looks like what the manufacturer builds, probably not. Next let's go back to 1/4 mile drag racing with ONE fuel pump, ONE mag and smaller blowers and make it across the board.

I was gonna say 14 camaros and a couple dodges.. LOL.. just change the grille sticker and they're all the same!

I find myself watching the sportsmen races more and more.

I think that's the motivation, give the manufacturers more exposure and maybe we will have more than 15 cars showing up to a race. NHRA is struggling, they need to do something to put butts in the seats and attract corporate participation.

Shorter wheelie bars to encourage more wheelstands? That doesn't particularly sound safe to me.

They have followed NASCAR into the box! Let's toss out any creativity, make a rules package so tight that there aren't any differences between cars.

So they walked into the box and no fans followed them in there. I must admit that I am still confused how they (NHRA) blatantly cut Harley Davidson a power and weight break to make them competitive some years back .. and then tightened the rules each year to slow them down.

But they refuse to do that for the Ford team and some of the other privateer teams.. curious?? NAH, they just love the GM dollars is all! (imho)

I'm surprised they've lasted this long. I worked for 'em in '91 and '92 and I got a belly full of how they treated the racers pretty quickly.

What fans?? It's way to expensive to attend and the Pro cars resemble nothing that we can buy.. who cares that I might see'um? While I like the competition, I get a better view from my couch and espn.

OH, and let's shorten the wheelie bars to make the cars more exciting for the fans?? Why else would they do that?
