New best time for my Studebaker

Had fun at Sacramento Raceway Wednesday night. Was able to make 4 passes 13.74, 13.73, 13.57 and a 13.92. This improves on my previous best 13.68 and is the most consistent I have been. I can attribute that to my simple traction bars and more practice on my part. This is through the mufflers on my wide white radial street tires. My 60' times still are not what I would like though from a best of 2.23 up to a 2.28. The 13.92 was in the first round of eliminations and I am afraid I got a little excited and mashed the throttle a little too hard coming off the line and spun the tires more. I was staging as shallow as possible which certainly hurt my reaction time. It's very hard to leave between the last two yellows which is what I need to do. The Studebaker represented the marque well and frequently had a crowd around it with questions and tales of Studebaker lore.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

Good on ya, Pat! The key thing is you're having fun with an awesome car - not a lot of Studebakers out there. Thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks guys, for sharing my excitement and satisfaction. Yeah Dave I know, that reaction time is a frustration. My goal has been to get the best possible ET so shallow staging does not help with reaction time. I will try rolling in a little further and continue to work on improving the 60' time. If I can get it down around 2.10-2.15 I think both the ET and RT will improve a lot. 2.0 would get me into the low 13s (dreaming). Any tips on that with street tires are appreciated! By the way, my tires are 235R70-15 Yokohama touring type tires currently running at 25 psi at the track. Car has 3.80 gears and a 2800 stall converter.

Yep Pat.Go around the water and don't do a burn-out with street tires.Just do a short chip to clean off the tires. Most street tires get more slick once they are hot.Learn one track and go there all the time.Alot of tracks get some what faster at night time when the track cools off and you learn to shallow stage to get the same dial-in.
