Shocks, springs, and things

My gasser, by tradition, has to have a straight axle. Trying to dial in some of the science on the old dinosaur... Help me out if you have some input....

1. Shackles go on the opposite end of the steering, ie front drag link, rear shackles and vice versa.

2. Sliders are more consistent on lift and let down then shackles---this is a 4 speed car I'm talking...

3. If 90-10 shocks are good on the front, then an adustable shock is going to be better to that I can control both the valving and the rate and distance in which the valving applies.....

4. Vega boxes are a bit slow for me, a 1.5:1 steering quickner will make the steering way more better.

5. Unsprung weight is important on the entire car, but CRUCIAL to getting the front end to respond correctly on a straight axle car.....

6. Poly spring eye bushings and "buttons" between the leaves will make the front end more consistent.

So, what I'm I leaving out??? Got to be some more things go into a properly designed straight axle front....

Dave, there is a really cool 55 gasser called Shakey Puddin' that I think might answer some questions for you. He ran a regular Chevy front end on it for a while, hit the wall, and then tore it apart and put a straight axle under it. He said it runs so much straighter now and goes in the 9's. He has been on Pass Time and it is fun to watch this one run.

Thanks Don, about all it sez is a moly straight axle and Bilstein 90/10 shocks.....

Already have the moly here to build the axle, now I want to do the trick front spring and adjustable shocks....

Nice car, but I want more adjustablity in the front end then his has.
