New Motor Running

Got the rebuild up and running yesterday. What a relief, finally! New roller cam, crank, heads ported with larger valves. Also, the new cam has 4/7 timing swap. Lot's of money, but it makes lots of noise. So, that's ok, right?
My engine guy thinks the new and improved BBC should get me into the high 10's. I'll be happy with low to mid 11's. Best e.t. on old motor was 12.55.
We will do a dyno run/tune Saturday. Then, its down to Famoso for a test and tune on Sept 4. The next weekend my buddy is running his Mopar at Pinks, so I'll join him in Bakersfield.
And we hope to run in the Governor's Cup up at Sacramento Sept 19.
With so much missed this season, it's great to get back in!

Starting an engine for the first time is a rush. The more horsepower the better. Lots of luck at the track.

Thanks, I don't take it for granted, and it was a thrill. The dyno on Saturday will tell how well the new build turned out. Then off to the track to adjust the shocks and tire pressures. Right now I'm hoping for consistent times for Hot Rod Bracket, or maybe E and possibly D-Gas. At least we may be able to make the Governor's Cup race in Sacramento next month. Since the start up run knocked some stuff off the shelf in the house, I'm thinking we're on the right track!

Noisey how? Some noises are great and some suk.
If you're not used to the new combo, you may experience some different noises and they may mean cylinder pressures are where you need them, valve clearances are different, or ramp intensities are more aggresive and so on.
What sounds different?

Always nice to hear a new motor for the first time.... good luck getting it dialed in and on the track!

I just meant it was turning money into noise... a good thing. It sounds real mean, but I have the pipes on for the neighbors benefit. So, it's running rich. The dyno pull should get it set up right. Test and Tune for the suspension and then some racing!
