To me, this is the best drag photo I've seen. Talk about snapping the picture at the right time.................
Note that you can see the blower pulley through the front wheel!!

well----what I like best about that picture of flying parts and oil------the Enderle BARNDOOR injector on top -----
Hmmmmm. Worst case of oil pan failure I've ever seen!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
and the driver looking down to see what he might have "lost"....
back in those days they really needed stronger oil pans to contain all those stock rods---notice the broken bolt in the number 6 rod???
"Runnin' over the crank"
You just know what's goin' through the driver's mind by the way he's lookin' down. He's sayin' WHAT THE......
I've seen this sort of thing before!
In the late '60s or early seventies I was at Charleston Dragway in central Illinois, a local 1/8th mile track. A C/G '32 Ford victoria, with an injected SBC 4-speed, dumped the entire crank assembly on the starting line! Those were the days of 8,000-10,000 RPM launches. :-)
The car was either sponsored, or owned by Albert Clark of Clark Chevrolet, who later went on to run Pro Stock, and also sponsored Keith Stark's record holding injected A/fueler.
Sorry ....I didn't get a picture. :-(
That's one of the perfect drag racing shots ever, here's a different angle of the "magic Muffler" blow up (or down).
Mick
they did that on purpose to show everybody what a c t stroker crank looks like:LOL::LOL::LOL:...ted
I think the driver was checking to see if his anatomy was still intact!
Great shot! This is one of my favorite "out of shape" pics
Great photos
I wish that I had a picture of a circle track car at a run what ya brung race at Lebanon Vally Speedway here in Upstate NY about 1965. A blown Olds, if I recall had a pan failure right in front of me during some hot warm up laps. The hood also failed when the blower came out the top as well. I don't ever recall so much shrapnel form a blown motor.
There's nothing like a shot of "Wild Willie" coming off the line sideways.
That one must have been "bothersome" as he had both hands on the wheel.
