Ford is coming back to Pro Stock next year.... Wondering if anybody has any good rumors about who the personnel involved might be?????
PS---They haven't called yet, so if you talk to them, let 'em know I'll be avaiable to drive!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
We already know what is going to happen, ford will win 2 years in a row with domination and they will have to change the rules again to make it fair.:D
Man, the way the Pro Stockers run now, don't know if anyone can dominate, not even my beloved Blue Ovals!!!!! A few hundredths can be the difference in 1 to 16 in qualifying times.......
Well the Greek is older than me-----I could/would maybe drive a ProStock again but maybe just sitting in the seat while warming up a top fueler would be enough cockpit time in one of them IF i could still get in one----
Darin Morgan is doing the primary work onthe Ford engines---he was with Reher-Morrison and now with Profiler---does a lot of work for Nascar teams
We been looking at family pics lately because of a couple reunions/funerals, etc and couple of upcoming weddings----Have I ever matured!!!!!!
Also---I think Line might be OK, but that Anderson guy-----uhhhh, and I wish NHRA would make him leave his safty equipment on until he comes to a stop-----didn't anyone ever have a problem in a race car after the finish line????
Heard of the Morgan dude.... believe he was one of the dude's involved with the Yates heads??? or am I thinking of somebody else....????
As for the Greek, he looked old when I saw him run at Lyons while out in Caliphony visiting relatives-----I was still in grade school that summer!!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Jerry, who was the guy in Texas back in the early 80's who undid the belts, then went sideways and got thrown out past the finish line???? Maybe Baker or something like that???? Guess Anderson has never seen the results of that.....
I blew a slick after the finish line, just in a Super Comp car.....Dang glad I still had the belts on, one heck of a ride!!!!!!
How about Lee Shepard????
The consensus is 79 or 80 and the Greek is just letting everybody guess. I talked to him at length at Topeka, one hell of a nice guy, and I don't think it's about winning, it's just the love of the sport. It's a damn shame he doesn't get the same kind of recognition as others of his era.:(
Heck, if Hershel McGriff at 81 can place 13th in a circle track race, a straight line quarter miler ought to be easy http://www.racintoday.com/archives/7921 :LOL:
Yep he was killed during a test session----helmut either wasn't fastened or he had taken it off when the gust front of an approaching storm(they were in Oklahoma) upset the car on rollout at high speed and he crashed
Ok, yeah, it was the same deal as Shepard. The guys name was David Baker, had a speed shop in Clear Lake, Tx. He was doing a shakedown on his new car, just some 60' and 300' stuff. Seems about the 3rd launch, the car felt good so he stayed on it. Got crossed up at the end, turned sideways, slicks bit and he rolled it. No belts on, helmet was in the pits.... Called a friend of mine in Houston this afternoon and got the details that somehow had eluded me!!!! Heck, it was just awhile back, like '81 or something.....
I didn't know Bob Glidden was still around he's got my vote.
King of the 351 Clevelands I'd sure like to learn what he knows
about them. All those little tips come in handy.
I raced big block dodges for years back in the early 80's
and keeped losing cranks because. I was doing what my builder
in Vegas was telling to do.
I ran in to a nephew of Don Garlitts down here in Seffner Florida
where I now live. I asked him to ask Don if he seen him what I was
doing wrong and told him how my bottom end was built back when.
Found out I should not have been using the bearing's my builder was
telling me to use on a Steel Crank.
Ruined many 3,000 doller steel cranks because of what my builder
was telling me. Thats why I now build Fords instead, wish I had all
the stuff back that I ruined because of that builder.
They cost me thousands of dollers. Kurt

roy hill? animal jim(forgot his last name) thats what i ve heard??? don't know
roy hill has always been a ford man he runs a driving school in nc.i think uses ford cars and engines check his web site roy hill driving school.
Saw a pic of the new Mustang body mold in the recent Hot Rod Magazine. Looks to be really sleek, although the nose doesnt appear to be as "wedged" as the Cobalts, GXP's or Stratus's. I just wonder if the body in Hot Rod is different than what Cunningham and Enders ran this year....because they certianly did not enjoy a whole lot of success. Pomona in February should be interesting.
I would imagine this year was a lot of R&D time, and also a lot of trial and error getting things sorted out... Hopefully that's all about done and it's approaching go-fast time....
Animal Jim was Jim Feurer, I remember him racing a Mercury Zephyr in Pro Stock many years ago. Here is a link to his really cool web site, http://www.animaljimracing.com/
Mike
If Glidden is invovled things should work out fine. I, for one, am getting tired of the GM dominance in Pro Stock.
Ford's just coming back, MoPar showed a lot of power this year!!!!! I'm with you Ken, tired of just wondering which Chebbie will win. A bit of competition between the big 3 again certainly can't hurt anything!!!!! Billy Glidden has been a force in IHRA for a number of years, maybe he can be enticed to come over to NHRA.... Been away from it so long, don't know what Bob is up to.....
The most memorable Bob Glidden moment for me was when he flipped the car, then as soon as he got out of it he covered up the top of the engine with his jacket to keep all the secrets secret!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Jimmy Johnson did good today.
I was on the John Kasse Racing site last night.... He's got pics on there of his new Boss 429 Pro Stock and Street heads!!!!! Man, are they gorgeous!!! He's even re-engineered them a bit so they can be use on a stock 385 series block....Hmmmmm, maybe the little Bronco II needs a big block!!!!!:LOL::LOL: Anyway, on the site he has the increased horsepressure numbers as compared to his own SCJ heads...don't remember the number but it was definitely an increase!!!!! He also did some rearranging on the rockers and a few other details to solve some of the breakage issues that were common with the original Ford Boss 429 heads....
