Could be wrong, but judging by the POP, I'd say the motor went south at the high end of second gear, locking up the drive axles. He was able to clutch it and steer to the edge of the lane.

Neighbors kids mess with those Honda's, and the are rebuilding
or replacing a engine every other month.
I just laugh and tell them to buy american.
The other day when they were replacing a engine and I
said to buy American, they got mad and said were's that
Ford at we are ready for it. Then they said we don't see it!
I told them you know I'm not do with it yet.
Then they started trying to annoy me, saying we don't see it again.
I then told them I was trying to get them use to it.
They said what do you mean, I then told them when it was done they wouldn't be able to see it either. They said why not? I said I'll be to far out in front of them. HE! HE! HE! Kurt

I guess it's only funny when it happens to somebody else... sounded more like 1-2-1 instead of 1-2-3 to me... I think the pop at end of 2nd was rev limiter shooting ducks when he clutched it.... must have had really good synchros (emphasis on had )

    LOL at Brad's comment

If they are rebuilding or replacing every month, they are running a lot of boost. You will probably be surprized how quick/fast the hondas are.

Not much different than V8 guys spraying a lot of nitrous (500+ kits).

If you push something that hard, blown head gaskets and some broken parts can be expected.

My brother drives a little MR2 it's a mid-engine 4cyl and he's 6'2" you wouldn't want to pull up next to it and laugh at his car, it looks stock other then a little beefer tires on it, it puts out 1000hp out of it's 4cyl!
The turbo has a 4" inlet.

Before he died, I heard Ligenfelter squeezed 1500hp out of an eco-tec 4 cylinder. If I remember right he used a turbo about as big as the engine itself, and it actually split the block. WOW.
    I ain't dumb, I just ain't been showed a whole lot!
