    First Race of the Season

We finally were able to get to the track last Saturday for our first test session of the 2008 season. It's going to be one heck of a ride this year. With the addition of a newly curved converter, and a change from 10.5 tires, to set of 18.5 Hoosier DOT's. Last season, running both stages, we managed to do a best ET of 8.13. The first pass this season on one stage (125hp) netted us an 8.14 at 166! The plans have already been put into action to up the first stage to 225hp and get it tuned to perfection, then it will be time for stage two. The new tires and converter were just what this car needed to allow us to unload the power we had to kill last season with the smaller tires.

Here is the much awaited video. Please excuse the out of focus part, we were training a new video girl with a new camera.

Great pass Mike.... Did I see the mph at 166??? Looks like it has one heck of a top end charge on it!!!! How much did the tires help the 60'???

Thanks Dave. Trying to compare the 60' from last season is a little tough. The best 60' I could get last season with the 10.5's was 1.3? I think. Plus I was leaving the line at 3800 RPM, as compared to that run which was 5200. The 60' on that run was 1.28. With an additional 125hp shot off the line, and tires that will actually hold the track, there's plenty of room for improvement.

Yup, the big tires are really helping... By the time you get it loaded up, should be a very respectable 60'!!!! Going to be a fun summer, huh????

I sure hope so. We are upgrading the entire electrical system while we're waiting for the next race-date. It will finally put an end to any electrical misery we were going thru.

I remember (even though it was a few years back) my first pass in the 7.00's...... then we started plotting and building to get in the 6.00's... Never did get the car built that was capable of a 6.00 (made it too 7.0's) but was fortunate enough to land a hired gun ride that got me down in the 5.80's....

The sick part of the thing is that that was better then 20 years ago and I still want a ride that will go 5.00's.... Caution Mike, going faster is more addictive then heroin!!!!!!!

As for the video, works great for me!!!! Watched it for the 5th time already!!! Really great to see something the size of a land barge hook and leave that good!!!!!

Now watching it for the 6th and 7th time, it looks like it might be carrying the front end a bit too far or lifting it a bit too high..... might be half a tenth there if you want to tune for it Mike.... Sure wish I could watch the car in slow mo........ What a great chassis analyzing tool that is!!!!

HAHAHAHHHAHAHA I know all about that addiction part, look where it's got me so far. HAHAHAHA

With our new tuner, things should go much better, much quicker. (pun intended)

Congrats on the first time out. Looks like a great season coming your way. It does seem to be dancing around a few hundred feet out, either way it is a fantastic car all around.

Actually it went straight as an arrow on that pass. I did get a little side to side motion, but it wasn't intil the shut-down area. It's possible that you are seeing movement from the camera. Thank you for the compliment.
