But they run a manual tranny in NHRA Pro Stock.:rolleyes: You just don't have to use the clutch after you launch.:rolleyes: :(
Yeah, I know..... and I just keep going to the G-Force site and looking at all the goodies!!!!! Heck, there 6 speed is rated for 600 horse and torque now!!!!!! A 2.71 low gear with two overdrives!!!!! Best of both worlds!!!!
I have serious doubts that most of the guys running in NHRA Pro Stock could actually shift the car and keep it going in a straight line. :rolleyes:
:LOL: :LOL: Just drop the clutch and start pulling the handle!!!! Nothing to it! When I run my Doug Nash in a drag car, everybody gives me a bunch of crap about how you can't run a 5 speed in a bracket car,,,,,,then ask if they can make a pass in the car!!!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL:
I saw this site about the manual trans only cars, and had to share it. Too bad the track is way the heck out in Maryland, sure would be fun to go run with them some weekend!!!!!!!

We had what was probably the first B&M "Hydrostick" to come into Texas. It was an early '50's Olds dual-range hydramatic with B&M magic applied to it.
Like most other cocky young squirts I was of the opinion that I was most likely the most gifted gearshifter in the world. The transmission was happy behind the 354 hemi. Because of my great talent I always shifted it by hand. I could "sense" when it was time to shift...... or so I thought.
It was a very sad day in my life when one day, just out of curiosity, we decided to make some runs keeping both hands on the wheel and letting the transmission think for itself.
We made three passes. EVERY ONE WAS QUICKER THAN WHEN I SHIFTED!
My partner calmly suggested I be governed accordingly.

Wow, had almost forgotten about the Hydrosticks!!!!! Reminds me of being a kid and telling my friends I didn't need a tach and could shift by ear.....which was ok till the first time I actually raced someone and we both had open headers.... couldn't hear my engine!!!! Bought a tach next day!!!!!:LOL: :LOL:

The situation is that he works when and for whom he damn well pleases. Like me, he's old, he's cranky, and he knows what his services are worth, but he could probably handle any Hydramatic if whoever owns the transmission approached him in the right manner.
If anybody needs Hydramatic service (and doing business with somebody in North Texas is feasible), I'll try to put you in contact with him.
