New Best ET for the Big Yellow Chevy

We managed to reset our best ET record for right now anyway. This past Sunday at the Nostalgia Drags in Epping, NH. The new number is 8.13. I should have some video action later on tonight, it still has to be downloaded from the camera.

Congratulations! Sounds like she's running very well... 7's right around the corner... just hold out for a slight tail wind or a nice cool evening and you'll be there

I also hit my best ET yesterday but just a lowly 11.970

Good to see you back here Mike. You really should update the article on the "other" site. I've been waiting for more good news from your efforts.

Congrats Mike, Your car inspires me... Don't see to many 60's, everyone likes the 58's and 59's. I am scrambling to get mine together, though I think mine will probably be running in the 14's

That's cool!! I like it when they are at least being worked on instead of just sitting in a field somewhere. Keep at it, the end results are well worth the wait.

Here are the video clips from this past weekend.

I included the mishap clips along with the good ones, just so everyone can see it's sometimes not as easy as it looks.

If you watch this first clip close enough, you will notice the car doing a little side to side dance.

    My favorite.

Tough to see in this clip, but it was a repeat of what happened in the very first one.

Click HERE for another not-so-straight pass.

Good pass on the 8.13!!!! Maybe now a Gearvendors behind the glide so it doesn't fall off so bad on the shift?????? As for the not so straight passes, heck that's what the fans come to see!!! Make many more like that I'd ask for a percentage of the gate!!!!!!!!

We were checking out that drop when we downloaded the info from the computer. It drops almost 1000 RPM on the shift! The converter is pretty tight on this thing, so I expected some, but nearly as much as that. It's going to have to do for the rest of this season, there isn't enough time to remove it and send it away to be changed, we have a race every weekend starting Sept 8 - October 7th, then we're all done for the season.

We went to the track this weekend to see if we could get the big yellow car to make a 7 second pass down the 1/4 mile. Our last trip brought us an 8.13, still using a very soft tune-up, so a crack at a 7 should have been an easy task. Well, the planets didn't quite line up like they were supposed to, and we ran into a little problem. While doing the warm-up in the pits, a major water leak appeared. After a close inspection, it was determined that the drivers side cylinder head developed a crack near the #7 cylinder and was shooting out streams of water. So, with ony 3 races left to this season, we decided to call this season over rather than thrash to try and get it fixed in time. The fact that the head on this side can not be taken off without removing the engine made the decision to end the season much easier.

Over the winter, I'll be removing the 10.5" tires and replace them with something much larger.
