I am still questioning this boxing of the frame maybe Tech can help out.Will in the street class everything should pretty much bolt in its stock locations.Well If I box the entire mid section(just behindthe front crossmember ,up to the rear end) then the trans support ,and the main cross member will have to be welded in.
If I weld in sections in for boxing then I can bolt the crossmembers in to the frame.
Anyways my question is do I have to do it in sections ,or can I run a 8 foot long piece and weld the crossmembers in for the 10.5 street class?Anyone here familiar with this?
I'm pretty sure the double frame rail refers to a full-on Pro Mod SFI 25.2 tube frame, so don't worry about it.
You can box the frame rails partially or all the way to the back, but my question would be.....why would you want to?
Do you have any idea how much money it will cost you to be competitive in a 10.5 Outlaw class?
I have set my sights a little lower,something like Ez Street.I want some thing I can drive on nice days.Besides the race track.
I still don't understand. This is not a car you can drive on the street and then go to the racetrack and be competitive with. Have you seen the rules? It'll cost $30,000 to be competitive 'cause these things run in the 9's.

EZ Street is limited to nitrous/oem style automatic cars and naturally aspirated auto or stick cars only. No blowers or turbos permitted.
Body and chassis:
-Lexan/plexiglass window replacements permitted but must appear stock. No visible bracing, screws, rivets, etc. permitted.
-Functioning lights required.
-Full interior required (i.e. must have upholstered door panels, dash, carpet, 2 front seats).
-Light weight body panels allowed.
-Stock style or ladder bar rear suspension. No 4 links unless car is naturally aspirated.
-Stock style front suspension required. Full stock front frame required with stock suspension pick up points retained. Coil over conversions allowed. No strut conversions.
-Stock fire wall and location required.
-No front spoiler unless OEM equipped.
-No forward facing hood scoops unless N/A.
-A small rear wing permitted. 6" maximum height on spill plates and 16" overall length. No moulding of spill plates to quarters.
-Traction control strictly prohibited.
Exhaust:
-Mufflers required. Must be commercially available units, no home built mufflers. No gutting of mufflers permitted. no insert style mufflers
Induction:
-Cast aluminium non tunnel ram intakes only. No carbon fiber/sheet metal intakes. Fuel injected entries may use fabricated sheet metal upper intake with cast aluminium lower intake.
-Single carb or throttle body only unless car is naturally aspirated.
-No intake or induction restrictions for naturally aspirated entries
Nitrous systems:
-Nitrous systems limited to 4 solenoids (2 nitrous and 2 fuel).
-Single stage systems only. Must use fogger or plate, but no combination of the two.
-Fogger systems limited to single nitrous and fuel nozzle per cylinder with single nitrous and fuel feed per nozzle.
-Plate systems limited to single plate.
-Progressive systems with 1 extra nitrous solenoid permitted.
-System limited to single 15# bottle with single -6AN feed line from bottle to engine compartment mounted nitrous solenoid or distribution block.
-No disconnected auxiliary nitrous equipment permitted. Only approved nitrous system may be on entry to pass OSCA tech inspection.
Tires:
-Maximum rear tire size 31 x13.5" DOT tire
-No slicks permitted
Transmission:
-OEM style automatic trans only unless n/a small block.
-No manual or clutch less manual transmissions unless car is naturally aspirated with small block only.
Small block entries:
Minimum weight 2900# (entries cannot be lower than base weight regardless of weight breaks)
Add 2.5# per cubic inch over 350ci to a maximum of 3200#
Big Block entries:
Minimum weight 3200#
Add 2# per cubic inch over 450ci
Maximum 510ci for nitrous, 560ci for n/a - (n/a combo over 510ci add 2# per cubic inch)
Weight breaks:
-200# weight break for naturally aspirated small block manual trans combinations.
-400# weight break for naturally aspirated small block OEM auto trans combinations.
-50# weight break for single carb small block entries.
-50# weight adder for multiple carb big block entries.
-naturally aspirated small block entries are not subject to ci weight adder at this time and are permitted 33"x10.5"W max tire size for small blocks.
-max tire size 31"x10.5"W for big blocks.
Safety:
-Engine Diaper - Mandatory. Non SFI units OK.
-Fire System - Mandatory.
Fuel:
-Gasoline only.

Reality really bites!!! The last 9.90 car we ran and were competitive in was in the early 90's, had a bit over 20K in the car......
Bracket racing locally is a lot cheaper. Once your car meets the sanctioning bodies safety requirements, you can build the car to run as fast as you can afford to go!!! I would love to dig my old GTA out of the barn and run NHRA Super Stock class---just don't have the $25k to $30K it would take to make the car run on index..... Like I said, reality bites!!!!
Consistency in a car is to me far more crucial then low et's.... If you can get the car and the driver to run the same times in the same RT/dial-in package round after round you can be a winner against the mega buck cars......
Well what I am looking at is not EZ Street,what I meant was True street.I am building my truck, should take about another two years and more money than my wife would like for me to spend on this project:whacked: I have decided to go with smaller cubic inches just to be somewhat comfortable on the street.I still want to drive it to the local drive in.I am thinking some where around 700-800 horses.I am asking these questions also to see where I can best fit in,with my needs.Bracket racing is just plain BOARING.I don't want to build something that is not legal on the track. :confused:I am not planing on coming in and taking over the field,but don't want to take away something from the frame set up that will ruin my chances from going faster a year or two down the line. The fun in it for me is getting in and learning more about what it is going to take for me to go faster.
TRUE STREET
Chassis
1. Stock front frame rails (must be in stock location)
2. Aftermarket control arms and bushings ok as long as they bolt
in stock locations.
3. Rack and Pinion allowed
4. All replacement parts must be in stock location
5. No replacement part may be permanently attached to the chassis
6. K-Members allowed (late model mustangs, Camaro's and Firebirds)

3. Cylinder heads must retain OEM style port/valve configurations and must be a massed produced type head readily available. One-off or custom made cylinder heads prohibited. Must maintain conventional/stock style valve angles.
4. No Big Chief, Big Chief style,18* BBC, SB2 or Yates style heads allowed.
5. No 18* heads allowed except for LS1 stock valve angle heads.
6. Porting allowed.

Double Frame Rail does indeed refer to a tube chassis race car. More specifically when one speaks of double frame rail it refers to the pipe running down the middle of the car (either side of the driveshaft, main frame rails) and a double frame rail cars has sets of rails one on top of each other spaced 6"-8" apart. Oh yeah, everyone has their own opinion, but bracket racing isn't boring if you're good at it. Unless you call running for $10,000+ and racing decided by .000-.010 boring.
