I had today off from work and did some light wood working decided to go to an iconic brew pub/ mechanics shop in the country off a very busy highway. I was chatting with a bar mate, when a semi hit a guy in a van trying to make a left turn across the country highway. Next thing I saw was the fresh fruit floral arrangements van headed straight towards the window where I was seated at about 50-60 mph. I reacted knocking over the bar stool, grabbing the guy next to me and diving away from the impending doom!. The van swerved to the side of us hitting a parked Jeep owned by the bar keep. I got up and made some quick decisions, ran outside, saw smoke, got the guy out of the van, went back in to get his shoe in the crushed cab area, took him inside to sit down and got some wet towels to wash off his arm, leg and face where blood was oozing. Once the Paramedics arrived I sat back down and had a beer!

Heck Steve, take a day off and you still end up working on the damaged people of this world. Just glad that you were there to help and that the van didn't come through the window at you and your mate.

Good reflexes.

Some times the wrong place is the right place! Stepping in to get the guy safe, then tending his wounds - a tip of the cap to you!

Funny thing was about 5 minutes before the accident, a woman in a new camero stops in the intersection and starts walking in the 50-60 mile per hour traffic. I turned to the guy next to and forget I told you I am a nurse, because if that idiot gets hit, I don't want to be put into a law suit situation helping her!, Weirder still the guy next to me was sitting in the same place about a year ago when a car did hit the bar, and the propane tank out front, his friend got back burns from coolant of the ruptured radiator as the truck came thru the wall! I told him maybe we both should avoid sitting there ever again! Sort of the lightening strikes twice rule!

The lightning rule: would that be, the odds of lightning striking a second time are the same as it having struck the first time?

Man Steve! You sure did have an exciting day. Good on you for helping those in need and fast thinking! Hopefully the rest of your weekend isn't so up pace.

PS. It sounds like next year you probably should set at the side of the entrance for the vehicles to the bar.
