Roadsterless but not carless

That orange with yellow flames '32 3 windy is darn nice little car. You rightly should be proud of your involvement in it's history too Don. I think I have asked before but can't remember the answer...... do you have a running number of the amount of cars that have past through your hands whether you have done a total rebuild or just a quick massage of paint, wheel change before departing your garage again ? You certainly have an eye on how to take somebody else vehicle and without a great outlay of dollars can change a car to a very nice saleable item.

Never really kept count, but when I retired in 2000 (from the Hot Rod building for customers) I told my self I'd just build em they way I like them and not have to satisfy any more customers. Now when I sell 1 the buyer like the car right off the bat and there is no BS. I do know I have over 100 files in my file cabinet of completed and sold Hot Rods/ Custom Cars/Trucks.
Guess that ain't to bad in 14 years. Case in point, When I debutted the last roadster @ NSRA OKC , no For Sale sign and had 3 people that wanted to buy it, told all of them it wouldn't be for sale until the end of June and gave them my business card. A week 1/2 ago I get a call from 1 of them and the car sold that day, he picked it up on Monday and drove it 200 miles home with a sh*t eatin grin in his face all the way home.

Very nice Don! I'd like to get to where you're at later on. I definitely like building for my self better than customers. You just can't make some people happy no matter how hard you try or how nice of work you do.

Thanx Ryan, Yep got sick of buildin 45 to 60 K cars and the customer expected a Ridler contender.
Now, when they buy it they own it and I don't have to babysit them.

Hey, I noticed the new owner didn't get to keep the radiator protector ( MOVE OVER ) on the car.:) You need it for next years Grey Beards trip aye out too LA. I like the way you make the reat wheel tyre combination fit into the body swage where the fenders normally fit as some get it wrong there trying to get the rake of the car right but it looks so wrong with the body up so high from the wheel /tyre. Just my opinion from observation of fenderless cars.

Mark, Most don't have a clue how to set a chassis up for the right rake and the right wheel/tire combo.
And I ain't tellin ! Took to many tries to get it right years ago.
Never have given away trade secrets. I guess that's what set my cars apart from the norm.
