Trunk handle install

Need help installing my trunk handle and latch. How high do i drill the hole and how do i cut the inner trunk skin to install the latch assembly. Its a fiberglass trunk.

I'm surprised that your latch didn't come with a template to set the hole & slot, but it will depend on how true to original your inner liner position is to the edge of the trunk, I would think, and more important who's latch you bought. Mine's a '33/34, but the handle is the same for a trunk/rumble lid 1932-1934. The key for placement though is the latch.

Looks like my handle is centered 2.125" up from the lip. My latch mounts with two screws from the bottom lip of the inner liner, with the slot .25"x 1.625" and the holes spaced 2.75" on center. A 7/8" hole aligned with the square latch mechanism provides access for a 9/16" socket, and a 3.375" hole above provided access to install the latch inside the liner. The "hook" of the latch grabs a simple 3/16" x 1" eyebolt that is secured in the drip channel with nuts top & bottom - not the most sophisticated latch approach, but very functional and adjustable. A few pics of mine to maybe help understanding. Your's may be totally different for a '32 latch as opposed to a '33/34.

Just to be crystal clear, I attached pictures and gave measurements of my trunk latch & handle just as an example, and stated that the placement of your handle depends only on the latch that you have, as does the method of attachment. The size & placement of holes may be totally different from mine, but will likely be similar.
