Why is it? tha-------32 fords

BSA Bob, when I bought my first sway bar I got it from Deuce Factory as a kit. I found that for my application it was not heavy enough. I am trying a torsion bar from Shroeder Racing this time. I chose a base diameter bar that had lots of spring rates, so I can change the bar out to get the handling I want. I bought the arms from Speedway Motors and the hiems from Summit. I will be fabricating the rearend housing tabs to mount it. As for the bar mounts themselves, I am using the Deuce Factory mounts, I just machined up new bushings to allow the larger bar. Hope this helps.

I run as soft a spring in my coilovers as I can get away with. My coilovers are QA1's with 110lb springs. Usually run the rebound in about 6 to 10 clicks, just enough to keep the rear from oscillating from side to side. I try to get as soft a ride as possible, which is an oxymoron for these old small cars. Sooo, I use the bar to help tighten up the roll quality. Hope some of this info helps.

We are gettin there now keith!thanks that does help. My 50 merc has a problem that makes it a bit tough to mont a bar. Its so awful wide between the rails, and most bars ....any........and allmost all.............are to narrow.which in turn means makind special brackets,Doing this all my life 45 years.And i got to a point where i make sure everything is copeasetic, before any welding or drilling takes place on the frame.

I have Aldan coil overs and wasn't sure what spring rate to use. Called Aldan and they said the far best spring to start with is to use a spring that compresses one inch with the weight of the car on it. then fine tune your the feel of your ride with shock dampening rates and sway bars from there.

Well men! I finally decded that my 50 merc was to long in the tooth....or to wide in the frame, backing plates run to close to the end of any bar i install, [leafs ], run under the frame, not beside it,SOO .I will get some 1an1/8" bar stock, bend up some gas welding rod, and design what i have to have, weld it all up ,grind it down and powdercoat it . Simple as that.

Dave is right....a few days later everyone tells you where you could have bought it better and cheaper....soooooo I told everyone that I bought an item....I lied to them. Several people told me where to buy it cheaper so I went to where they suggested and bought it.....works every time. Next, I am telling everyone that I found a 32 three window in pristine condition for $10,000 to see if they can beat that.
