    Last trip to nats?

This year could be our last trip to the nats. NSRA is changing the rules in 2010 to allow any vehicle 30 years and older at all events. I am not opposed to later model cars (we have a 50 stude) but the nats are close to capacity now. If it becomes one big traffic jam I will not be interested in attending. It says in there press release an over whelming majority of members have requested this change. Did they put it to a vote? If so I did not get a ballot.

Funny, I never saw a vote or opinion pole for this either. Nothing but a money grab as far as I'm concerned. I wonder if all the streetrods stayed away from one of their shows if there would be an overwhelming number of late models to cover the loss.

    Nats

This is why I now have been going to the small rod runs with only hotrods there.

Some friends of mine are waiting for the spin off organization to form so they can join. I've never been to the nats before and I was planning to go for the first time in 2010, but now all the guys I was planning to go with are talking about not going....I might have missed out on something good. I may never know....

Bunch of babies, I swear---We have lost at least 10 streetrodders in the last 11 years to death and have only got 1 new face to join since then. I'm sure that is happening everywhere. 30 year,to me is kinda harsh but it is a money thing. L-ville started out around 13k+- nowhere close to that now.

It will be a shame if they ruin the Nats. Louisville is an awesome week but really no room for late models. I totally agree if it becomes a big jam which with just 48 and down it almost is the NSRA will lose alot of us who have supported it for years. Will need to wait and see but maybe this year will be the last one for us. We go to Goodguys Nats in Columbus and the mix is really nice but there is just not enough room in Louisville it is pretty much full already. Maybe they will just do it at the smaller events where they have plenty of room. my 2 cents

I think that may be what happens is a new organization. I think it is great to include later models at some of the events. We go to good guys events and enjoy them but there is room for all the cars at every event. I also know they have to have younger members to keep the organization alive. Members are the ones that need to introduce younger guys to the pre 48 rods. My son and I built the car we take and it is his car (32 3 window) ,he is 17 and really enjoys the rod meets.

Let me see if I have this right. Everybody with pre-48's should pull out of NSRA and hope that somebody has the money and the backing to put together a new organization for "just pre-48's", right??? Then, NSRA will welcome all comers, kind of like Goodguys does now, and NSRA will become financially solvent and be able to put on more, bigger, and better shows every year just like Goodguys shows!!!! Boy, that boycott will really teach NSRA a lesson!!!! Good luck finding the new promoter, by the way, in these tight money times gonna be tough to find someone or some group willing to take the risk.....

Wouldn't it be far better to just welcome whoever shows up at these "most sacred" NSRA shows (with money in hand) and be glad that you have some big shows to go to??????? I've seen boycott attempts at many different events. Usually about half the boycotters fold and go anyway, and those that don't are just left out of everything...... Maybe the Street Rod craze has just waned a bit, and it's time folks realized the pre '48 anythings are not the holy grail of Hot Rodding as they once were??????

Boy I'd hate to think my 61 year old 48 Ford truck in too new to go to NATS! After working 2 1/2 years on it, with probably a year to go, what a bummer that would be! Should of got a 47!

I must have been misunderstood I am not boycotting anything or looking for a new NSRA we have been members for years and enjoy their stuff and Goodguys also. What I am saying is that if you have ever spent that early August week in Louisville you all know it is very busy and full on the fairgrounds every year. Figuring there are more muscle cars than rods the Louisville fairgrounds would be busting at the seams. We would continue to go to events probably just not a mess like that could turn into. Maybe they would limit registration to a certain number for each venue, that would work. But like I said we will wait and see and already have reservations for 2009. Looking forward to season.

I get what your saying. Here in Petaluma, every new event that is fun, gets ruined as it gets bigger, more regulated and more expensive. Example Chili Cookoff and beer tasting! Started at something like 16 bucks, plus four more for beer, generous portions, to now over 40 bucks, and you get a thimble to taste beer, with 4 beer tickets, that the limit! The little mustard cups you get at Costco, are big compared to what they let you taste of chili! Some things are better the first couple of years! We formed our own cookoff, unlimited beer and chili, free and you get to walk home!

I don't have a problem with later cars. I agree the rolling 30 year entry is harsh. And I am just wondering where the overwhelming vote came for the late model cars. Boycotts don't work and I'm not suggesting that. I just wonder if the streetrods weren't there would all the new stuff make up the difference.

I will still go. Only live 20 miles from the main gate. No I dont like it but if you see something you dont like just keep walking there will still be plenty to look at. I just wish the cutoff was pre 72. Goodguys columbus is 72 and down they have a good mix every year.

I cant believe how many people dont like change....what happens when the NSRA members are to damn old to fix or drive their cars and the younger crowd could care less becuase they were never involved.
Part of getting older folks....time to deal with it. Cant stay young forever and the show must go on with or with out you.
NSRA members can blame them selves on this one just like they can blame them selves when they are sitting home on weekends
