Couple friends did the same thing...So Dak titled both cars with absolutely no problem... Nothing shady or illegal about it, just IMO Caliphony trying their best to get Hot Rods put back in the garage so there's more room on the (overcrowded) freeways for another Prius or two!!! With the taxes, and penalties, etc...gonna be tougher everyday to tolerate Hot Roddin' out there..... Know of a couple who've packed up shop, employees and all and vacated to be Uncle Bob's neighbors out there in Vegas!

Even the Eastern home of Taxes and Fees, (New York State) didn't give me any problem registering my '31 with a good bill of sale this past June.

Maybe that's why I sell 60 - 70% of my builds to guys in Californicate, as my cars have "Clean" AZ titles as first year of MFG as 1932.
The paper work alone is worth 3 - 5K to a guy in the fruit and nut state.

From what I understand, California license plate costs are based on the age and price of the vehicle rather than a set fee like some other states. I believe the contention in California involves a loss of revenue when a street rod is titled as a 1932 rather than given a new title which will generate more revenue. Iowa is like that, too. And then there is the small allotment of emissions exemptions needed by street rodders to register their vehicles. Here in Illinois , it is simply a set fee depending on what kind of plate you have. A regular plate is $99.00 while my prestige plate is $125.00. I did not have any problem licensing my '32 here and it did not have to be inspected.

Before I forget, let me know what classifieds you guys have found that have good deals pop up now and then! I know the normal ones, but there are so many out there, I don't know which ones guys would post a 32 Ford or parts etc!

Great site! I have not seen so many 32's in one spot. But I guess it does go to show, build whatever you want, how you want it, because the chances of finding a buyer may be slim with so many cars on the market. But, sometimes you just get lucky and find that 1 buyer and it's all over!

You never know about selling a car. I was at a show last Saturday, and a guy asked me if I wanted to sell my car. I told him I wasn't all that interested in selling it, but said if someone came up to me and absolutely had to have it and was willing to pay me what I would would need to have, I might consider it. He asked me what that number was, and when I told him he didn't flinch. If he calls me with an offer, I guess I would have to give it some serious thought. I can always build another one.

Must be a bit of that going around Lynn. At the GG event in Puyallup toward end of July I had two different guys approach me the same way on my '36 coupe even though I had no sign. I tossed out the same number to both and they didn't leave. One spent about a half hour climbing over, under, around and through the car, the other almost an hour.....plus taking a bunch of pictures. Serious buyers? In my case probably not, haven't heard from either since. Maybe they were really scouting info for their own similar/same cars and just figured they'd have better access if they pretended to be potential buyers.

Don, I was reporting the information, that's all. It seems that he's burnt a few bodies. There are plenty of manufacturers who are more deserving of someone's business.

It's too bad, because he has good ideas. If Dwight is running the operation, things will probably improve, but when you are shelling out that much money, it is going to be tough not to be gun-shy regarding the Gibbon name.

Jack, you are right on the money. There are in fact two gibbon companys doing business now, one in Nebraska and the one in Virginia who bought molds from the origional Gibbon in Nebraska. I've never done any business with the Nebraska guy but the Virginia guy, "Shooter" got over $700 of my money and never sent the parts. They won't respond to emails or answer phone calls now. This order was made in Nov. 2011. Nice huh?

My '32 has an N&N body and frame and I LOVE IT!!!!!{nice guy also,,}

BTW, yes, Duane at N&N is a very nice guy and if he took you to lunch, you probably had one of the best hamburgers ever made....the homemade pies were delicious too!!

thanks, 1bad32, for all the info you have given about N&N products on this board the last few years. Because of this I have a 32 body and chassis and a 34 body ordered with him and will be picking it up in the next couple months and hope to be a successful dealer and building lots of cars using N&N products in Florida.

In Daytona Beach area. Port Orange is the city, bordering on Daytona's south side.
