We're still running Superbells, which are cast, and have had zero problems. I think sometimes any that have failed get blown out of proportion compared to the large number that are out there working fine. Any manufacturer who makes thousands of an item is going to have a certain percentage that fail.........just look at the current Toyota situation. For years they built arguably one of the most dependable cars on the road, and just because a small percentage had some issues now everything they build is suspect.
We have two on cars right now and another Superbell hanging up, waiting for the next project, and I have no qualms about using it.
Don
I'm just finishing up a 32 3-window myself and like Don I'm using a Superbell, dropped, filled ends & chromed.
I have a chrome Superbell on my 32 roadster pickup as well and it has a lot of miles with no problems.
Mick
I agree with Don, their is usually more to these failures than are told.
I use Magnum for a 5" drop and Super Bell for the 4", depending on the attitude of the car I'm looking for.
Ken
I am still debateing:confused: I have a brand new chromed 5" magnum, that I am not going to use, gonna buy me a 4" So Cal forged. Will let it go cheap :3dSMILE:
I use Superbell or Chassis Engineering, i've never had a problem with any dropped beam and i've used them all over the years on my own cars and customers cars.
Yes, and you NEVER abuse your rods Steve!:eek::eek::LOL:
Don
Yes Don, on ocassions i can be a bit brutal with them :D:D:D
You Brits are something else. I've watched some videos of how you guys drive them. You certainly don't baby your hot rods. We call that off roading over here, you guys call it a Sunday drive. :D:D
Don
Don no point in building a car to look at, get out there and see what it will do :D
I fully intend on driving the hell out of this thing!! but will want to be safe for my sake and others on the road as well!!
I will not use a cast axle, it will be a forged one. Most likely a Chassis Engineering.
The guy doing my frame put a Pete and Jakes front end under it. Found out all forged axles are from "off shore" unless they are Henry's.
Good choice, you won't have any problems. My Son Dan has the same P & J axle under his rpu, and if I thought it wasn't safe I would have steered him away from that one.
Shoot us some pictures as your build goes along. :)
Don
Thanks, Don!
Will do! I'm picking it up at the Shades of the Past car show in Pigeon Forge TN Sept 10-11
