long tube headers for LS motor

There are a number of companies that make long tube headers for LS motors. Hooker, Kooks, Pacesetter and SLP are some. Whether any of them will fit your app is the question. I did a search for you at LS1Tech.com

You might also check out the Conversions and Hybrids forum there. These motors have been put into a lot of vehicles and the exhaust is a common challenge. Some very creative and resourceful people have come up with interesting solutions.

I started with the exhaust manifolds that came on my crate motor. They are double wall stainless steel from Chevrolet. They must of spent a fortune on these things. I just cut the flange off the manifolds and started with that, then just bought a bunch of J bends U bends and 90 degree bends.
If you haven't ever built a set before just look at some cars that you think look nice and start from there. It really isn't that hard, just very time consuming. There are a few tricks of course you learn over the years and I will tell them if you decide to give it a try. You can gas weld them if you don't have a tig welder. I hope you give it a try.

Hey Ken, I started looking at pictures of Z06 exhaust manifolds. Is that a heat shield that wraps around the manifold? None of the pictures showed pipes coming from the flange like yours do. Edd

Everything you see looking at the Z06 exhaust is welded to the flange. I cut all that off and was left with just the header flange like you would buy to start making your headers.

I have a set of longtube LS headers for early frames that were made by S&S. I recently heard a rumor they're no longer in business, however.

After a weed end in the yard---you guys are funny. Heard that Liz Taylor is marrying a younger guy--Is it you Dave??

As for making headers I have made several for things nobody has stuff for or its not what I want---unless it was for a top fueler or funny car--

I use stainless u and j-bends and a merge type collertor--purge the inside as i weld them

you can buy different radius tube bends that fit together perfectly and saves a lot of space

I enjoy the race cars and of course the 32-34 type cars as almost nothing is in the way

I hate turbos even if its open space

some pics in my gallery of a bbc 32 I did, polished ss----frigging paint bodyshop sent them out and had them ceramic coated--I'm still poed

That's hilarious Liz Taylor getting married again she is 78 I think and this is the 8th or 9th time, can't call her a quitter :D
A few years back Malcolm Forbes bought her a Harley and had us build her a PINK trailer, Don you would of really liked it :LOL::LOL:

I have 3 sets of the S&S LS headers in stock.

I bought a few stainless steel long tube header builder kits last year for really cheap. I weld so it wasnt difficult. One set was for a 455 the other for an LS chevy motor. They came with everything needed.

I had to tig them but they looked great after I polished them.
