A good starting point is 3 degrees up on the pinion and 3 down on the transmission tailshaft. Get yourself one of the $ 10 angle finders at the hardware store, Lowes, Home Depot, and simply find a flat machined surface like on the facing edge of the U joint carrier, and go from there. There is some room for misalignment here, look at some of the jacked up trucks running around.
