Need bearing, seal & race part numbers
I have the So Cal Wilwood set-up on the front of my car that's hidden in the faux polished finned brake drums.
I had a pad come apart on way home from GNRS & was making a bad grinding noise. I pulled it all down & rotor on driver side was pretty toasted. At 1st- I thought I would have to remove the Wilwood hat & replace the discs but I found a shop today & was able to have them successfully turned. Yahoo!!
Called So Cal about the pads, races, inner & outer bearings & grease seal. They won't break up a set & don't sell parts. However, they will sell me a rebuild kit that contains all the stuff I need, in addition to new rotors & hats for the tidy sum of $600.00. No number on seals, inner bearing is illegible & made in Japan. Outer is available at CarQuest, special order- at least it had a number on it. Anyone else w/ this set-up know the application & part numbers for bearings, races & seals? Maybe it's on install instructions if anyone saved them. What a PITA.Last edited by Steves32; 02-09-2008 at 08:43 PM.

A good bearing house should be able to find you a replacement set. You need to mike the bore, the outside of the race, and the depth and style of the bearing. Bearings kind of fall into definite groupings, and a sharp guy behind the counter should be able to fix you up. Same with the seals. SoCal did not have special bearings and seals made up for this setup, believe me. They used readily available items.
Being that you live in a place where there should be a bunch of these businesses, you should be able to score pretty easily. You need a bearing house though, not a place like Autozone.
You might try Wilwood too.

I talked to the guys at Wilwood & they were very helpful. He said they don't normally sell to public (wholesale only) but if I brought all the stuff to them, especially the rotor & hat- they could match it all up. They are located in Camarillo & are about 100 miles from me. I was trying to avoid a drive if possible.
We have a couple of good shops I could also follow up w/ next week.
I was just hoping someone else already went through this & wrote the numbers down.
Opps- it wasn't AutoZone, it was CarQuest. Not your normal fast food auto parts store- they have a complete machine shop in back & build motors. They even have catalogs & old guys who can look stuff up. The shop I normally go to (Graves Automotive) sent me there because their machine shop was closed on Sat at noon.Last edited by Steves32; 02-09-2008 at 09:18 PM.

100 miles in Southern California is the usual commute to work each day.
(I used to live in Rancho Cucamonga and worked in Buena Park.)
It just seems to me you could get one stop shopping at Wilwood and get the right parts for sure, whereas you might have to run all over trying to find these otherwise. Just a thought.

Just got off the phone w/ my son. He's good friends w/ Pete Jr at So Cal Speed (they went to school together) and will talk to him on Monday to see what he can do for me.
